o.T. (abstrakte Komposition). 1966. Öl und Tempera auf Malkarton. 49,5 x 46,5 cm. Signiert, datiert. Ganzflächig auf Unterlage kaschiert und auf Passepartout montiert. - Ecken kaum merklich begestoßen und dort ganz punktuell mit leichtem Farbabrieb. Verso mit Montagespuren, die sich entlang der Ränder vereinzelt abzeichnen. Malkarton technikbedingt leicht gewellt. Insgesamt sehr gut. Prachtvolle und dynamisched Komposition mit frischen Farben.

Klassische Moderne – Das Werk ist im Wilhelm Imkamp Privatarchiv unter der Nummer 1074 verzeichnet. Wir danken für die freundliche Bestätigung. - Wilhelm Imkamp zählt zu den prägenden Vertretern der abstrakten Malerei in der deutschen Nachkriegszeit. Nach seinem Studium am Staatlichen Bauhaus in Dessau, wo er ab 1926 unter anderem bei Josef Albers, Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee und Lyonel Feininger lernte, entwickelte er eine Bildsprache, die sowohl durch konstruktive Klarheit als auch durch eine sensible Farbmodulation bestimmt ist. Die Einflüsse seiner Bauhaus-Lehrer blieben in seinem Werk spürbar, ohne dass er sich auf formale Dogmen festlegen ließ. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wandte sich Imkamp konsequent einer autonomen, nicht-gegenständlichen Malerei zu. Ohne Vorzeichnungen arbeitete er oft an mehreren Bildern parallel, wodurch ein spontaner, prozesshafter Dialog zwischen Farbe, Form und Fläche entstand. Seine Kompositionen verbinden strukturelle Strenge mit einer rhythmischen Leichtigkeit und leuchtenden Farbigkeit.

Classical Modernism – Oil and tempera on cardboard. Signe and dated. Fully mounted to underlying mat and to passepartout. - Corners hardly noticeable bumped and with slight isolated paint abrasion. Verso with mounting marks visible along the margins. Cardboard due to technique slightly buckled. Overall very good condition.
