Französische Moderne – Maeght 452. - Eines von 100 Exemplaren. - Gedruckt bei Mourlot, Paris. - Hg. Louis Broder, Paris 1967.
French Post War – Colour lithograph on wove paper. Signed and numbered. Mounted in spots on support, mounted in passepartout and framed behind glass (unopened). - Overall in apparently very good condition. Splendid, chalky print, the colour luminous and rich. - Maeght 452. - One of 100 copies. - Printed by Mourlot, Paris. - Ed. Louis Broder, Paris 1967. - The colour lithograph Le Lézard aux Plumes d'Or belongs to a series of originally eighteen sheets that Joan Miró created in 1967 to illustrate his own poetic text The Lizard with the Golden Feathers (Le Lézard aux Plumes d'Or). This group of works is exemplary of Miró's intensive preoccupation with the combination of poetry and visual language as well as with colour lithography as an autonomous means of expression. The sheets show an expressive, spontaneous formal language that thrives on the energy of the gestural. Typical are calligraphic lines, biomorphic figures and free spots of colour in vivid red, yellow, blue and green. As is often the case with Miró, figuration merges with abstraction: the titular lizard does not appear illustrative, but as a symbolic, almost mythical form.
