Informel – Karl Hartung, der vor allem als Bildhauer bekannt wurde, zeigte auch in seinem malerischen und zeichnerischen Werk seine außergewöhnliche künstlerische Begabung. Besonders in den 1950er Jahren entstand eine Vielzahl von Pastellzeichnungen, die häufig durch kräftige Linien geprägt sind, Linien, mit denen Hartung Formen nahezu plastisch aus der Fläche herauszuarbeiten scheint. Diese Zeichnungen dienten ihm nicht nur zur Vorbereitung seiner Skulpturen, sondern bildeten ein bewusstes, eigenständiges Gegenstück zur Plastik.

Informel – Black and blue pastel chalk on card. Signed and dated on the reverse. Spot-mounted on backing and framed under glass. - In very well preserved condition overall. Colour-rich, dynamic work. - Karl Hartung, who was primarily known as a sculptor, also proved his extraordinary artistic talent in his paintings and drawings. In the 1950s in particular, he created a large number of pastel drawings, often characterized by strong lines-lines with which Hartung seems to carve forms out of the surface in an almost sculptural manner. These drawings not only served as preparation for his sculptures, but also formed a conscious, independent counterpart to his sculptural work.
