Konzeptkunst – Das vorliegende Künstlerbuch von Hanne Darboven aus dem Jahr 1993 entfaltet auf zwanzig Seiten ein konsequent durchdachtes numerisches System, das für ihr gesamtes Werk kennzeichnend ist. In Form eines Notizbuches angelegt, beginnt die Aufzeichnung auf der ersten Seite mit der Zahl neunzig und den groß gesetzten Ziffern 92/97. Die Zahlenfolge wird in logischem Sinne weitergeführt. Ab der Hälfte des Buches erscheinen die Zahlen nicht mehr in Ziffern, sondern ausgeschrieben als Worte. Diese bewusste Umwandlung markiert einen Übergang von der abstrakten zur sprachlich-konkreten Ebene. Das Künstlerbuch veranschaulicht beispielhaft, wie Hanne Darboven aus einfachen formalen Setzungen wie Zahlenreihen, Wiederholungen und der Verschiebung von Ziffer zu Wort komplexe kulturelle, historische und autobiografische Bedeutungsräume erschließt.

Very good overall. - This artist's book by Hanne Darboven from 1993 unfolds on twenty pages a consistently well thought-out numerical system that characterises her entire oeuvre. Laid out in the form of a notebook, the record begins on the first page with the number ninety and the capitalised digits 92/97. The sequence of numbers continues in a logical sense. Halfway through the book, the numbers no longer appear in numerals but are written out as words. This deliberate transformation marks a transition from the abstract to the linguistic-concrete level. The artist's book exemplifies how Hanne Darboven opens up complex cultural, historical and autobiographical spaces of meaning from simple formal settings such as series of numbers, repetitions and the shift from number to word.
