Lot 157 Joseph Beuys. Mädchen. 1982. Radierung auf …

Mädchen. 1982. Radierung auf Arches Velin (mit Wz.). 29,5 x 20,5 cm (65,5 x 50 cm). Signiert und bezeichnet "H.C. 21/26". - Papier altersbedingt leicht gebräunt, an den Kanten teils etw. stärker. Wenige winzige, punktuelle und kaum sichtbare Braunfleckchen. Insgesamt sehr gut mit ausgezeichnetem, gratigem Druck.

Fluxus – Schellmann 299A.

Fluxus – Etching on Arches vellum (with watermark). Signed and inscribed "H.C. 21/26". Paper slightly browned due to age, somewhat more so at the edges. A few tiny, isolated and barely visible brown spots. Overall very good with excellent, crisp printing. - Schellmann 299A. - One of 26 copies outside the numbered edition. - Based on a design from 1956. - In "Mädchen" (Girl), Beuys addresses not only a figure, but a principle: Using the medium of etching, he creates a gestural, symbolic presence in which the image is understood as an impulse for circulation-movement in the sense of social and energetic participation. The print is part of the series "Suite-Zirkulationszeit" (Suite Circulation Time), which Beuys published in 1982 and in which he explores the concepts of time, circulation, and community visually and conceptually. This image functions as a catalyst: it refers to the idea that, in Beuys' expanded conception of art, every human being is actively involved in the network of social processes. The stylistic clarity of the etching deliberately distances itself from narrative baggage and instead allows for open readability: the girl is less at the centre as an individual and more as a space of possibility for the circulation of ideas, energy and community.
