Hatje Cantz, Ostfildern.

Time', signed and numbered in the book (publication not included). - Published by Hatje Cantz, Ostfildern. - French artist Christian Boltanski understands his work as a form of investigation. Using objects of memory, he reconstructs life stories and creates identities. The resulting fragmentary biographies constantly revolve around fundamental concepts such as time, transience, death, absence, and loss. For the work 'Portrait chinois de C.B.', the artist uses strips of historical photographs from various sources. The resulting faces appear familiar and yet strange to us. Fictional figures, composed of anonymous fragments, whose history remains untold.
