Online - Modern and Contemporary Art – Emulsion paint on corrugated cardboard. Signed. Mounted in spots on underlying mat. - Overall very good. - We would like to thank Mrs Müller-Jensen for kindly confirming the authenticity of the work. - The present work by Herbert Zangs takes up central principles of his artistic work. Zangs became known in particular for his so-called Verweißungen, in which he covers objects, materials and surfaces with white colour. For him, white did not mean emptiness, but a form of condensation and a means of reduction that opens up new forms of perception. In this work, the coarse structure of the cardboard remains visible under the impasto layer of colour. The gestural application of the emulsion paint also emphasises the materiality of the support medium, creating a picture surface on which trace and surface merge.
