Online - Moderne und zeitgenössische Kunst – Ren Rong setzte in seiner künstlerischen Praxis häufig auf eine Verknüpfung von kulturellen Referenzen - etwa der chinesischen Scherenschnitt-Tradition - mit aktuellen Fragestellungen zur Identität, Ökologie und globalen Kulturbeziehungen. In der vorliegenden Arbeit manifestiert sich Ren Rongs langjähriges Motiv der Verschmelzung von Mensch und Natur. Die aus Holz gestaltete Figur verweist auf sein bekanntes Thema der "Pflanzenmenschen", hybride Wesen, die im Spannungsfeld zwischen organischem Wachstum und menschlicher Form stehen. Das Material Holz trägt hier wesentlich zur Wirkung bei: Die warmen, natürlichen Maserungen und die organische Struktur des Materials korrespondieren mit dem Bild eines wachsenden, lebenden Körpers.

In the present work, Ren Rong's long-standing motif of the fusion of man and nature is manifested. The wooden figure refers to his well-known theme of "plant people", hybrid beings that are caught between organic growth and human form. The material wood makes a significant contribution to the effect here: The warm, natural grain and the organic structure of the material correspond with the image of a growing, living body.
