Alte Drucke, Bibeln, Klassische Autoren in den Originalsprachen – Erste italienische Ausgabe des berühmten kosmographischen Traktats, mit früher Erwähnung von Amerika. - EDIT 16 CNCE. - Alden/Landis. - Als Einführung in Apians große Kosmographie angelegt, enthält der Text Kapitel über die astronomischen Grundlagen der Erdbeschreibung mit Holzschnitten von Armillarsphäre, Quadrant, Zodiacus, Gradeinteilung etc. Im zweiten Teil wird die physische Geographie behandelt, u.a. mit der Beschreibung der 4 Erdteile. - Die Amerika betreffenden Passagen mit der Erwähnung Vespuccis and einer kurzen Beschreibung des neuen Kontinents auf Bl. 22 u. 23. - An den Rändern vereinzelt minimal fleckig und wasserrandig, sonst ausgezeichnet erhaltenes Exemplar.

Prints before 1600, Bibles, Classics in Original Languages – First Italian edition of the famous cosmographical treatise, with early mentioning of America. - For references see above. - With title wood-cut, 25 text wood-cuts (of which 1 full-page), 1 wood-cut printer's mark, and 1 animated wood-cut initial. - Designed as an introduction to Apian's great cosmography, the text contains chapters on the astronomical foundations of geography, with wood-cuts of the armillary sphere, quadrant, zodiacal scale, degrees, etc. The second part deals with physical geography, including a description of the four continents. - The passages concerning America, with a mention of Vespucci and a brief description of the new continent, are on pp. 22 and 23. - With a few minor stains and waterstains along the edges, otherwise an excellently preserved copy.
