Moderne Literatur und Kunst – Von großer Seltenheit. - Die beworbene Mappe besteht aus 17 Graphiken und basiert auf Grosz' Entwürfen für eine Inszenierung von "Der brave Soldat Schwejk" an der Piscator-Bühne im Jahr 1928. Die Serie zeigt die verheerenden Auswirkungen des Krieges auf das Land und seine Bewohner und kritisiert Institutionen wie die Regierung und die Kirche auf karikaturistische Weise. Nach der Veröffentlichung wurden der Schöpfer, George Grosz, sowie die Verleger John Heartfield und Wieland Herzfelde verhaftet und wegen Gotteslästerung angeklagt. Das vorliegende Flugblatt wurde während der Appelle veröffentlicht, als die Mappe vorübergehend wieder erhältlich war. Der deutsche Text lautet: "Drei dieser Zeichnungen wurden unter dem Vorwurf der Gotteslästerung beschlagnahmt. Zunächst verurteilt, wurden Grosz und sein Verleger in der Berufungsverhandlung freigesprochen. Die Staatsanwaltschaft hat beim Reichsgericht beantragt, gegen dieses Urteil Berufung einzulegen. Die Mappe ist daher vorübergehend wieder verfügbar. (...)" - Kleiner Einriss am oberen und rechten Rand, minimal knitterig am unteren Rand, papierbedingt gering gebräunt, sonst gut erhalten.

Modern Literature and Art – Of great rarity. - Promotional leaflet. The advertised portfolio consists of 17 prints and is based on Grosz's designs for a production of The Good Soldier Svejk on the Piscator stage in 1928. The series shows the devastating effects of the war on the country and its inhabitants and criticizes institutions such as the government and the church in a caricaturistic manner. After publication, the creator, George Grosz, and the publishers John Heartfield and Wieland Herzfelde were arrested and charged with blasphemy. This leaflet was published during the appeals, when the portfolio was temporarily available again. The German text reads: "Three of these drawings were confiscated on charges of blasphemy. Initially convicted, Grosz and his publisher were acquitted on appeal. The public prosecutor's office applied to the Reichsgericht to appeal against this verdict. The portfolio is therefore temporarily available again. (...)" - 2 small marginal tears, lower margin minimally creased, minor browning due to paper, otherwise well preserved.
