Mit 10 über gemusterten Rahmen und hinter Seidenpapieren mit aufgedruckten Legenden auf Tafeln montierten, zusätzlich in Pochoirmanier kolorierten und goldgehöhten Bildern im Vierfarbendruck, weiters 15, wovon 3 zusätzlich in Pochoirmanier kolorierten, farblithographischen Initialen, sowie Zierrahmen-, leisten und Vignetten. Paris, Piazza (Kadar) 1920. 1 Bl., 139 (1) S. Gr.-4°. Ganzmaroquin (sign. Bayntun-Riviere) mit reicher, dekorativer Deckel-, Rücken-, Steh- und Innenkantenvergoldung, auf der Vorderdecke Krone mit Perlenersatzbesatz (Kapitale wenig berieben), Vorsätzen aus Muschelmarmorpapier und Kopfgoldschnitt, in Leinenkassette mit Rückengoldtitel (diese etwas bestoßen, beschabt und berieben).

Moderne Literatur und Kunst – Erste illustrierte Ausgabe nach Aquarellen von Dulac. - Monod 9936. - Mahé III, 319. - Carteret V, 174. - Eins von 1500 in der Maschine nummerierten Exemplaren auf Japan der von Dulac aufwändig gestalteten Ausgabe, hier vermutlich vom Künstler zusätzlich signiert. Die erste illustrierte Ausgabe von Rosenthals zuerst 1919 erschienener romanhafter Erzählung über Perlen, welche den Weg von deren Entstehung über die sie umgebenden Mythen und Legenden bis hin zu ihrer Vermarktung nachzeichnet. - Die ersten Blättern mit wenigen, kaum sichtbaren Fingerfleckchen, die mit blauer Tinte aufgebrachte Signatur an den Rändern teils auslaufend, Papier gering gebräunt, sonst ausgezeichnet erhaltenes Exemplar, hier im kunstvoll gearbeiteten, luxuriösen Handeinband des traditionsreichen viktorianischen Meisterbuchbinders Bayntun-Rieviere.

Modern Literature and Art – First illustrated edition based on water-colours by Dulac. - For references see above. - With 10 full-paged images in four-colour printing, additionally hand-coloured and gold-heightened in pochoir style, all mounted on plates with patterned frames and behind tissue papers with printed legends, as well as 15 colour lithographed initials, 3 of which are additionally hand-coloured in pochoir style, furthermore decorative borders and culs-de-lampe. - One of 1,500 copies numbered in the machine on Japanese paper of the elaborately designed edition by Dulac, here presumably additionally signed by the artist. - The first illustrated edition of Rosenthal's novel about pearls, first published in 1919, which traces their origins, the myths and legends surrounding them, and their marketing. - The first few pages have a few barely visible finger marks, the signature in blue ink on the margins is partly smudged, the paper is slightly time-stained, otherwise an excellently preserved copy, here in an artistically crafted, luxurious binding by the traditional Victorian master bookbinder Bayntun-Rieviere from Bath, England.
