Moderne Literatur und Kunst – Tschi Pai-Tschi (Ch'i Pai-Shih, auch Qi Baishi, 1863-1957), Holzbildhauer und Tischler, stieß durch Vorlagenwerke auf die Malerei. Beeinflußt von den chinesischen Impressionisten, entwickelte er die für ihn charakteristische zarte und heitere Bildsprache. Die farbigen Holzschnitte zeigen Landschaften, Blumen, Vögel, Insekten, Fische, Tiere und Menschen. Sie gehören dank der scharfen Naturbeobachtung des Künstlers zu den hervorragendsten Werken dieses auch in der westlichen Welt weithin beachteten führenden Malers des modernen China (vgl. Vollmer IV, 477 f). - Gutes Exemplar.
