Moderne Literatur und Kunst – Eines von 20 im Impressum nummerierten Exemplaren. - Die Radierungen je signiert. - Blattmaße je 53 x 40 cm. - Erste handsignierte Auflage zum 60. Geburtstag des Künstlers, die Arbeiten radiert und gestochen 1927. - Gottfried Brockmann war ab 1928 Meisterschüler von Heinrich Campendonk an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Ein Jahr später nahm er an der Jahresausstellung des Deutschen Künstlerbundes in Köln teil. In den folgenden Jahren wurde er Vorsitzender der Rheinischen Sezession und setzte sich nach der Machtübernahme der Nationalsozialisten 1933 aktiv gegen die faschistische und antisemitische Propaganda sowie gegen die Absetzung des Direktors der Düsseldorfer Akademie ein. Aufgrund der daraus resultierenden Repressionen floh Brockmann nach Berlin. - Im Rahmen der Aktion "Entartete Kunst" wurden 1937 mehrere seiner Grafiken zerstört. Im Jahr 1948 schloss er sich der Künstlergruppe "Gruppe der Progressiven 1948" an und lehrte ab 1955 an der Muthesius-Werkschule in Kiel. - Wenige Bll. mit verzeinzelt blassbraunen Fleckchen, nur partiell im Rand etwas unfrisch. Insgesamt wohlerhalten, die Radierungen durchweg prachtvoll und kräftig im Druck, teils mit zartem Plattenton, je mit Rand.

Etchings together with title page loosely inserted in typographically inscribed half cloth wing folder, together with the etching plates (inserted in wrappers) in dark green linen case with mounted label to spine (case minimally dusty, wingfolder slightly foxed). - One of 20 copies numbered in the imprint. - The etchings each signed. - First hand-signed edition on the artist's 60th birthday, works etched and engraved in 1927. - Few sheets with isolated pale brown spots, only partially slightly soiled at the edges. Overall in well preserved condition, the etchings in splendid impression throughout, partly with delicate plate tone, each with margins.
