S. 93). - Das berühmte Fotogramm nach einem Doppelporträt von Hans Arp vor dem Hintergrund von Picabias Dada-Zeitschrift "391". "Das halb groteske Bild Jewgeni Neys (eines fixtiven Dichters) war die 'schwankend-verdoppelte' foto-grafische Porträtdarstellung des Malers und Dichters Hans Arp. Selwinski seinerseits beschrieb unerhört genau das 'doppelköpfige Äußere' Arps in dem Gedicht 'Porträt Jewgeni Neys', dessen Text dem Oval des Gesichtes aufgedruckt war. "(Lissitzky-Küppers, S. 387).- Mit dem häufig fehlenden Beiblatt (dieses mit zahlr. hinterlegten Einrissen), der Umschlag mit der vollständig erhaltenen Montage Lissitzkys. - Provenienz: Exemplar des Literaturkritikers Korneli Ljuzianowitsch Selinski (1896-1970), der 1924 in Moskau mit Selwinskij die Gruppe "Literarisches Zentrum der Konstruktivisten (LZK)" gründete, mit dessen eigenhändigen Besitzervermerk auf dem vorderen Vorsatz recto: "Ich möchte nicht, dass dieses Buch mir 'in Erinnerung' gewidment ist". - Einige Blätter etwas fingerfleckig, das Papier gering gebräunt, sonst solides Exemplar mit einer der bedeutendsten Umschlaggestaltungen der klassischen Avantgarde.

Modern Literature and Art – First edition with the iconic photomontage by El Lissitzky. - "The half-grotesque image of Yevgeny Ney (an imagined poet) was the "swaying-doubled" photographic-graphic portrait of the painter and poet Hans Arp. Selwinski, for his part, described Arp's "double-headed exterior" with incredible accuracy in the poem "Portrait of Yevgeny Neys", the text of which was printed on the oval of the face. "(Lissitzky-Küppers, p. 387) - With the frequently missing folded text leaf (this with numerous backed tears), the cover with Lissitzky's photomantage preserved in its entirety. - Provenance: Corneli Liuzianovich Selinski (1896-1970), literary critic, who in 1924 together with Selvinskii founded the avantgarde group 'Literary Centre of the Constructivists (LZK)', with his personal owner's note, signed and dated, on the front endpaper recto: 'I do not want this book to be "in memory" of me'. The author had dedicated the book in print to Selinski's memory. - Some leaves somewhat finger-stained, the paper slightly time-stained, otherwise a solid copy with one of the most important cover designs of the classical avant-garde.
