Geschichtswissenschaften – Seltene und frühe Sammlung von Holocaust-Dokumenten. - Frühe fotografische Dokumentation des Konzentrationslagers Auschwitz-Birkenau. Eine Sammlung von vier Fotopostkarten, die 1947 vom neu gegründeten Auschwitz-Museum herausgegeben wurde. Die Bilder sind nicht mit einem Bildnachweis versehen, aber eine größere Version der ausklappbaren Panoramaansicht von Birkenau ("Das Panorama von Brzezinka (Birkenau) (Abschnitt B)") wurde auch in dem Fotobuch "Oswiecim-Brzezinka. K.L. Auschwitz-Birkenau. (Krakau, 1948) veröffentlicht, in dem es Stanislaw Kolowca, einem bekannten Architekturfotografen aus Krakau, zugeschrieben wird. Die übrigen Fotos gehören vermutlich zur Sammlung der 138 Fotos, die Stanislaw Mucha 1945 als Beweismittel für die Prozesse gegen die Nazi-Kriegsverbrecher aufgenommen hat. Diese Bilder zeigen "Das Tor des Stammlagers" mit den berüchtigten Worten "Arbeit Macht Frei", "Das Exekutionsgericht der 11. Baracke" und "Das Krematorium (Ort des Aufstands von 1943)". - Eine Karte verso beschrieben. Leicht befleckt. Abbildungen gut erhalten.

History – 4 postcards with photographs from Auschwitz-Birkenau. Black and white photographs on paper. Text in Polish, Russian, English and French. - Scarce and early collection of Holocaust documentation. - Early photographic documentation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. A collection of four photo-postcards, published by the recently established Auschwitz Museum in 1947. The images are not credited, however a larger version of the fold-out panorama view of Birkenau ("The Panorama of Brzezinka (Birkenau) (Section B)") was also published in the photo-booklet "Oswiecim-Brzezinka. K.L. Auschwitz-Birkenau. (Krakow, 1948) wherein it is attributed to Stanislaw Kolowca, a prominent architecture photographer from Kraków. The rest of the photos are presumably part of the collection of the 138 photographs that Stanislaw Mucha took in 1945 as evidence to be used during the trials of Nazi war criminals. These images are showing "The Gateway of the Chief Camp" with the infamous worlds "Arbeit Macht Frei", "The Court of Executions of the 11th Barrack" and "The Crematory (The Place pf the Revolt of 1943)" . - One card inscribed on verso. Slightly stained. Illustrations in good condition.
