Geschichtswissenschaften – Anton Hoffmann (1863-1938) war ein deutscher Maler, Illustrator, Heereskundler und Hochschullehrer. - Die Vaterland unternahm mehrere Reisen auf dem Jangtse sowie auf dem Dongting- und Poyang-See. Als am 18. Dezember 1905 in Shanghai Unruhen ausbrachen, entsandte sie gemeinsam mit dem Kanonenboot Tiger ein Landungskommando. Im April 1907 fuhr sie in den Oberlauf des Jangtse und traf am 4. Mai bei Chongqing auf die britischen Kanonenboote Woodlark und Woodcock sowie das französische Kanonenboot Orly. Anschließend operierte sie zusammen mit der Woodlark in Wanshien, wo ebenfalls Unruhen herrschten. - Papierbedingt etwas gebräunt, in den Rändern leicht stockfleckig, im linken Rand tls. angeknickt, sonst gut.
History – The German river gunboat SMS Vaterland during an uprising in Wanshien. Signed original ink drawing. - Anton Hoffmann (1863-1938) was a German painter, illustrator, military historian and university lecturer. The Vaterland undertook several voyages on the Yangtze River and on Dongting and Poyang Lakes. When unrest broke out in Shanghai on 18 December 1905, it dispatched a landing party together with the gunboat Tiger. In April 1907, it sailed to the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and encountered the British gunboats Woodlark and Woodcock and the French gunboat Orly near Chongqing on 4 May. It then operated together with the Woodlark in Wanshien, where unrest also prevailed. - Slightly browned due to the paper, slightly foxed at the edges, partially creased on the left edge, otherwise good.
