Buchwesen - Faksimileausgaben – 1 v. 2000 numm. Exemplaren.

Books on Books - Facsimile Editions – Facsimile. With 1 full-page miniature, 1 heraldic page and 1032 miniatures partly heightened in Gold. Orig. leather with rich blind toolings respectively orig. leather in original publishers folder (in some places faded, some rubbing minimally chafed.). - The world-famous manuscript is considered one of the most magnificent Gothic manuscripts ever, not least because of the gold ground applied to the pages. While the images primarily depict scenes from the Old Testament, the dictum "Deus lux est" (God is light), which is explicitly stated in the New Testament (John 1:5) and frequently declined in Gothic art, is impressively illustrated here. An impressive manuscript that captivates the viewer not least because of the captivating opening miniature "God as the Creator of the World" and its creative pictorial solutions.
