Varia (mit diversen Schlagworten) – Erste Ausgabe des ersten Werks überhaupt zur Pferdezucht und Gestütsverwaltung. - Mennessier de La Lance II, 553. - Lacroix 94. - Die schöne Titelillustration mit Pferd und Fohlen vor einer Weidenlandschaft, der Titel mit üppig illustrierter Bordüre mit Werkzeugen zur Pferdepflege und -zucht. Das Porträt reich mit heraldischen Elementen umrahmtes Medaillon ausgeführt. Provenienz: Rudolph Graf von Abensperg und Traun, österr. Uradel, mit dem goldgeprägt. Wappensupralibri derer von Abensperg und Traun auf Vorder- und Hinterdeckel. - Es fehlen 3 Tafeln nach Zeichn. von Sebastian Vrancx mit Darstellungen von Pferden aus verschied. Perspektiven, wobei die dritte davon die Titelillustr. wiederholt. - Einige Marginalien von alter Hand (Tinte, Bleistift), einige Bl. ganz leicht stockfleckig, sonst sauberes, breitrandiges Exemplar des bedeutenden Werks.

Varia and Miscellaneous – Zoology. - Hippology. - With illustrated title leaf etched by Cornelius Bol (sign. 'BL'), 1 (of 4) engraved plates with etched portrait of the author, as well as some vignettes and filled initials in wood-cut. - Rare first edition of the first work on horse breeding and management of stud farms. - The beautiful title illustration with horse and foal in front of a pasture landscape, the title with lavishly illustrated framing with tools for horse care and breeding. The portrait a richly executed medallion framed with heraldic elements. - Provenance: Rudolph Graf von Abensperg und Traun, Austrian aristocracy, with his gilt embossed illustrated book-plate depicting the family coat of arms on both boards. - Lacking 3 plates after drawings by Sebastian Vrancx with depictions of horses from various perspectives. The third of these repeats the title illustration. - Some marginalia in ink and pencil by old hand, a few leaves very slightly foxed, otherwise a sober, wide-margined copy of this important work.
