Schwarz begeisterte sich bereits vor seiner künstlerischen Laufbahn für Architektur und Malerei. Nach seiner Tischlerlehre kehrte er nach Leipzig zurück und begann dort unter Adam Friedrich Oeser an der Akademie in Leipzig zu lernen. - Jede Tafel wird von einem Text begleitet, der die abgebildete Szene oder das Bauwerk erläutert. Je mit Inschrift in der Platte. - Minimal stockfleckig. Insgesamt gut erhalten. Prachtvolle Kupferstiche in kräftigem Kolorit.

Canvas with gold-stamped title (stained, rubbed, and bumped, spine bleached). - Very Rare. - With former owner's stamp on verso of title page. - Work by Leipzig painter and engraver Carl Benjamin Schwarz with 24 views of Leipzig. Schwarz was enthusiastic about architecture and painting even before his artistic career. After completing his carpentry apprenticeship, he returned to Leipzig and began studying under Adam Friedrich Oeser at the Leipzig Academy. - Each plate is accompanied by a text explaining the scene or building depicted. Each with inscription in the plate. - Minimal foxing. Overall in good condition. Magnificent copper engravings in rich colors.
