Photography – Album with 12 photographs. Albumen prints. Vintages. Each mounted on cardboard with printed title and name of the photographer below the photograph. In leather folder with gold-stamped title (stained, edges sun-bleached, slightly bumped). - Extremely rare. - Probably created on the occasion of the opening of the first Berlin aquarium on May 31, 1869, on the north side of Unter den Linden/corner of Schadowstraße near the Brandenburg Gate. The aquarium, founded by German zoologist Alfred Brehm, was open there until 1910, and the numerous visitors could see snakes, parrots, and other animal species in addition to fish and other aquatic creatures. The photographs provide a unique insight into these lost spaces of Berlin's early museum landscape. - Cardboard with foxing, some photographs faded at the edges. Overall in very good condition with some high-contrast photographs of the first Berlin Aquarium.
