Geographie und Reisen – Im Handel derzeit für uns nicht nachweisbar. - Beihefte zur Zeitschrift für angewandte Psychologie und psychologische Sammelforschung 6. Hg. v. William Stern u. Otto Lipmann. - Thurnwald (1869-1954) war 1901 bis 1906 wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft am Museum für Völkerkunde in Berlin und unternahm in dessen Auftrag von 1906 bis 1909 eine ethnologische Forschungsreise auf Melanesien, Palau, Yap, Ponape, dem Bismarck-Archipel, auf den Salomonen und in Süd-Bougainville. Mit Carl Stumpf, William Stern und Otto Lipmann entwickelte er einen diagnostischen Leitfaden zur Kategorisierung fremder Kulturen, der 1912 unter dem Titel "Vorschlag zur psychologischen Untersuchung primitiver Menschen" erschien. - Gelöschter Besitzvermerk (Papier etw. ausgedünnt), wenige Anm. u. Anstr. mit Bleistift im Text, Taf. papierbedingt tls. leicht gebräunt, insg. wohlerhalten.

Geography and Travel – Australia - Bismarck Archipelago - Ethno-psychological studies of South Sea peoples in the Bismarck Archipelago and the Solomon Islands. With 21 plates. Contemp. half cloth with gilt stamped title to spine. - Currently unavailable in trade. - Thurnwald (1869-1954) was a research assistant at the Museum of Ethnology in Berlin from 1901 to 1906 and undertook an ethnological research trip to Melanesia, Palau, Yap, Ponape, the Bismarck Archipelago, the Solomon Islands and southern Bougainville. Together with Carl Stumpf, William Stern and Otto Lipmann, he developed a diagnostic guide for categorising foreign cultures, which was published in 1912. - Deleted ownership note (paper somewhat thinned), few notes and markings in pencil in the text, plates partly slightly browned due to the paper, overall good condition.
