RTitel eingelegt in gefütterte mod. HLdr. Kassette im Stil d. Zt. mit goldgepr. RTitel (beschabt, berieben u. bestoßen, Kassette wohlerhalten).

Geographie und Reisen – Vgl. Mau/Mercklin I, 412 und Brit. Arch. Libr. 1148. - Nicht bei Cicognara, Graesse, Brunet und in der Ornamentstich-Slg. Berlin. - Äußerst selten, keine Exemplare bei Worldcat und im KVK, für uns derzeit nicht im internationalen Handel nachweisbar. - Prachtvolle Aquatintafolge mit Ansichten der im frühen 19. Jahrhundert freigelegten Ruinen Pompejis. Die Tafeln zeigen Gebäude, Plätze, Detailansichten von Malereien, Mosaiken, Handwerkszeug u.a. - Mit 3 Plänen sowie einer Ansicht des Vesuvausbruchs vom 22. Oktober 1822. Text in zwei Spalten, je in italienischer und französischer Sprache. Titel datiert 1826, der 5-seitige Anhang über die Mosaiken in der Tafelbeschreibung mit Jahreszahl 1831. - Papierbedingt minimal und sehr zart angebräunt, überwiegend im Blattrand u. tls. verso etw. stockfleckig (kaum durchschlagend), HGelenk angebrochen (Bindung jedoch fest). Insgesamt sehr gut. Wohlerhaltenes u. seltenes Exemplar mit durchweg ausgesprochen prachtvollen Tafeln.

Geography and Travel – Italy - Pompei - With illustrated aquatint title and 87 plates in aquatint and etching, of which 3 double-page and 2 hand-coloured. Cont. card binding with marbled boards and gilt title to spine in lined mod. half leather case in style of the time with gilt title to spine (rubbed, rubbed and bumped, case well preserved). - Exceptionally rare, no copies at Worldcat and in the KVK, currently not verifiable for us in international trade. - Splendid aquatint series with views of the ruins of Pompeii uncovered in the early 19th century. The plates depict buildings, squares, detailed views of paintings, mosaics, tools, etc. - With 3 plans and a view of the eruption of Vesuvius on 22 October 1822. Text in two columns, each in Italian and French. Title dated 1826, the 5-page appendix on the mosaics in the plate description with the year 1831 - Minimally and very delicately browned due to paper, mainly in the margins and partly on the verso somewhat foxed ( barely showing through), rear hinge cracked (but binding firm). Overall very good. Well-preserved and rare copy with exceptionally splendid plates throughout.
