Geographie und Reisen – Aus der Bibliothek von Frederick Collins Wilson, Southampton, mit seinem gestochenen Wappen-Exlibris auf dem vorderen Vorsatz. - Zweite Ausgabe. Zwei Tafeln mit Wasserzeichen 1825, eine andere mit 1824. - Colas 2898. Lipperheide 1187. - Die farbenfrohen Tafeln zeigen Szenen aus dem städtischen Alltag wie Gaukler, Verkäufer, Tänzer, Wanderer, Fischhändler, Blumenverkäufer, Soldaten, Wasserträger und wohlhabende Menschen auf der Promenade. 1822 wurden die ersten vier Teile mit insgesamt 16 Tafeln herausgegeben. Der fünfte Teil mit den restlichen fünf Tafeln folgte 1824. Die vorliegende Ausgabe erschien kurz danach, mit einem leicht abgewandelten Titel und einem im Buchdruck neu gestalteten Text. - Etwas gebräunt. Vereinzelt leicht stock- oder fingerfleckig. Insgesamt schön erhalten mit kräftigem Kolorit.
Geography and Travel – France - Paris - With 21 hand-coloured aquatint plates. 19th c. half leather with rich gilt on spine, gilt edges (more heavily rubbed and bumped, capitals with defects). - From the library of Frederick Collins Wilson, Southampton, with his engraved armorial bookplate on the front endpaper. - Second edition. Two plates with watermark 1825, another with 1824 - The colourful plates show scenes from everyday life in the city, such as jugglers, vendors, dancers, wanderers, fishmongers, flower sellers, soldiers, water carriers and wealthy people on the promenade. The first four parts with a total of 16 plates were published in 1822. The fifth part with the remaining five plates followed in 1824. The present edition was published shortly afterwards, with a slightly different title and a newly letterpress printed text. - Somewhat browned. Occasional light foxing or fingerstaining. Overall beautifully preserved with strong colouring.
