Ortelius. - Koeman III, Ort 69 - Van der Krogt 33A:01 - Die 109 Textkupferkarten zeigen 2 Weltkarten, die 4 Kontinente, sowie mit Karten aus Afrika, Asien und Europa, darunter Malta, Sizilien, Sardinien, Korfu, Kreta, China, Indonesien, Arabien u.a. - Titelblatt mit alten Anmerkungen in verblasster Tinte, teils etwas braunfleckig, die Karten Calais u. Griechenland mit kl. Ausriß im oberen weissen Rand (ohne Abbildungsverlust), die Karten Picardie und Abissinimit hinterlegtem Einrißbis in die Abb., 8 Karten (S. 81.95) sind überklebt durch neu gestochene Karten. Insgesamt gut erhaltenes Exemplar.

Geography and Travel – Rare first Italian edition of the Epitome by A. Ortelius. With title vignette and 109 copperplate engravings in the text. Later half-vellum binding with spine label. - The 109 copperplate maps show two world maps, the four continents, as well as maps of Africa, Asia, and Europe, including Malta, Sicily, Sardinia, Corfu, Crete, China, Indonesia, Arabia, and others. Title page with old annotations in faded ink, the maps of Calais and Greece with small tear in the upper white margin (without loss of image), the maps of Picardy and Abissinimit with tear extending into the image, eight maps (p. 81.95). tear in the upper white margin (no loss of image), the maps of Picardy and Abyssinia with a tear backed up to the image, 8 maps (p. 81.95) are pasted over with newly engraved maps. Overall, a well-preserved copy.
