VII, 1802, Cordier, Indosinica Sp. 949, Cox I, 328. - Wichtige Reisebeschreibung des Jesuiten Guy Tachard, der als einer der ersten Europaer Siam bereiste. 1685 begleitete er den Gesandten Chaumeton, ging 1686 mit siamesischen Gesandten als Dolmetscher an den Hof Ludwigs XIV., um dann 1687 mit funf Konfratres nach Siam zuruckzugehen. Der Bericht enthalt zu Beginn eine Beschreibung vom Kap der Guten Hoffnung mit einer Kartenskizze, gleichfalls vorh. sind Kartenskizzen von Batavia und der "Rheede vor Bantam", die ubrigen Kupfer zeigen die Stadt Siam, Boote, religiose Riten und diverse Tierarten. - Die meisten Bibliographien kennen die hier vorlieg. erste dt. Ausgabe nicht, sondern nennen nur die franzos., niederl. und italien. Ausgaben. Der Bericht uber die zweite Reise erschien 1709 in dt. Sprache im gleichen Verlag. - Titel in Rot u. Schwarz und mit Holzschnitt-Vignette. - 2 Karten verso und 2 Textbll. mit Bibl.-Stempel. (Provenienz Auk. Ketterer 348-555, 2008). - Sauberes Exemplar.
