Album mit 12 Tsuso-Malereien mit Darstellungen von Bestrafungen und Foltermethoden. 19. Jh. Je Gouache auf Markpapier, mit blauer Seidenbordüre. Maße je ca. 8 x 12 cm. Quer-12° (13 x 9,5 cm). Montiert in Album d. Zt. mit dekorativem roten Seidenbezug und Schließbändern (etwas berieben und fleckig, Bezug mit kl. Fehlstellen und an der Rückseite gelöst).

Geographie und Reisen – Je im unteren Rand unter der Seidenbordüre mit kleinem typographischen Etikett mit Nummerierung und Titel in englischer Sprache. Enthält folgende Titel: 1. Magistrate in Court. 2. Arrest of Criminals. 3. Punishment of criminal by parading him in the Street. 4. Slapping the mouth for telling lies. 5. Punishment by stretching the criminal on a wooden bench. 6. Punishment by cangue, or wooden pillory. 7. Torture by pressing the ancles of criminal with wooden poles. 8. Bambooing his breeches. 9. Tying him to a stone. 10. Banishement. 11. Ling Ch'ee (i.e. cutting off the flesh of the criminal piece by piece.). 12. Beheading - the Capital punishment in China. - Wohl erhalten, Farben leuchtend.

Geography and Travel – China - Album with 12 tsuso paintings depicting punishments and torture methods. Each gouache on plith paper, with blue silk border. Mounted in cont. album with decorative red silk cover and closing bands (somewhat rubbed and stained, cover with small missing parts and loose at the back). - Each with a small typographical label in the lower margin under the silk border with numbering and title in English. Contains: see above. - Well preserved, colours bright.
