Sammlung von 8 Tafeln mit Original-Zeichnungen exotischer Tiere. o.O. (vermutl. Süddeutschland oder Österreich), um 1800. Je Aquarell u. Gouache tls. weißgehöht auf Papier, fest aufgezogen auf grobfaserigen Karton. Je ca. 50 x 30 cm. Die Darstellungen je mit handschriftlicher Bezeichnung in Latein, je mit bläulich-grüner Tinte oder Papierrahmen umrandet sowie verso je mit Öse zur Aufhängung.

Zoologie

Naturwissenschaften – Die Tafeln zeigen: Leopard (Felis Leopardus) - Schabrackenschakal (Canis Mesomelas) - Lemming (Mus Lemmus) - Mittelamerikanischer Tapir (Tapirus americanus) - Karakal (Felis Caracal) - Murmeltier (Arctomys Bobac) - Klippschliefer (Hyrax capensis) - Buschschliefer (Hyrax syriacus). - Die Zeichnungen entstanden vermutlich nach der Vorlage von Johann Christian Daniel Schreber. Die Tafeln in dem wichtigen zoologischen, um 1775 Werk erschienenen Werk "Die Säugthiere, in Abbildungen nach der Natur mit Beschreibungen" gestochen von Johann Nussbiegel nach H. D. Kretsch. Die großformatigen Darstellungen auf festem Karton die korrekte Bezeichnung des gezeigten Tieres sowie die Aufhängevorrichtung verso lassen an eine Nutzung zu Bildungszwecken denken. - Ab dem frühen 19. Jahrhundert leiten die Preußischen Reformen die Grundlage für den Wandel Preußens vom absolutistischen Stände- und Agrarstaat zum aufgeklärten National- und Industriestaat ein. Dies betrifft auch die Schulreformen, hinsichtlich welcher sich insbesondere Wilhelm von Humboldt für eine allgemeinere, staatlich organisierte Schulbildung einsetzt und hiermit den Grundstein für das spätere deutsche Schulsystem markiert. - Gebrauchsspurig, papierbedingt gebräunt, überwiegend leicht stockfleckig, teils etw. fleckig, die Ecken bestoßen, 1 Tafel mit kl. Ausriss. Insgesamt sehr gut.

Natural Sciences – Zoology - Collection of 8 plates with original drawings of exotic animals. Each watercolour and gouache, partly heightened with white on paper, firmly mounted on strong fibre card. Each with handwritten inscription in Latin each edged with bluish-green ink or paper border and with eyelet for hanging on verso. - The plates depict: Leopard - Jackal - Lemming - Tapir - Caracal - Marmot - Cape Vole - Bush Vole. - The drawings were probably based on a model by Johann Christian Daniel Schreber. The plates in the important zoological work published around 1775 'Die Säugthiere, in Abbildungen nach der Natur mit Beschreibungen' engraved by Johann Nussbiegel after H. D. Kretsch. The large-format illustrations on sturdy cardboard, the exact description of the animal depicted and the hanging device on the reverse suggest that it was used for educational purposes. - From the early 19th century, the Prussian reforms laid the foundations for Prussia's transformation from an absolutist estate and agrarian state to an enlightened national and industrialised state. This also applies to the school reforms, with regard to which Wilhelm von Humboldt in particular advocated a more general, state-organised school education, thus laying the foundations for the later German school system. - With traces of use, browned due to paper, mostly somewhat foxed, some spotting, corners bumped, 1 plate with small loss. Overall in well preserved condition.
