Bound in contemporary half morocco with gilt ornamental title and numbering on spine, marbled boards, waxed as well as patterend end papers and gilt cut. - Third part on reptiles from the monumental 10-part collection edited between 1836 and 1849 under the direction of Cuvier in collaboration with his students, here E. Duvernoy, with captivatingly beautiful plates. - Partially slightly foxed and browned, overall well-preserved, attractively bound copy, the steel engravings of impressive precision, the colouring bright and fresh.
