Ausführliche Erklärung der Hogarthischen Kupferstiche, mit verkleinerten aber vollständigen Copien derselben von E. Riepenhausen. 14 Lieferungen in 4 Bde. und Tafelband. Mit 88 Kupferstichen. Göttingen, Dieterichsche Buchhandlung, 1794-1835. Kl.-8°. Pp. mit goldgepr. RSchild und Lwd. mit blindgepr. Deckel (berieben und bestoßen).

Kunstwissenschaften – Seltene vollständige Reihe mit dem Tafelband. - Die 14-teilige Reihe über die Kupferstiche von William Hogarth wurde von Lichtenberg begonnen und nach seinem Tod von verschiedenen Autoren weitergeführt. Die Reihe war Lichtenbergs umfangreichste Veröffentlichung und verlieh ihm auch nach seinem Tod weiterhin Ruhm. Für die Lieferungen wurden die Kupferstiche Hogarth's von dem Göttinger Kupferstecher Ernst Ludwig Riepenhausen verkleinert nachgestochen. - Stockfleckig und Ränder gebräunt. Insgesamt gut erhalten mit prachtvollen und kontrastreichen Kupferstichen.

Science of Art – 14 deliveries in 4 volumes and illustrated volume. With 88 copperplate engravings. Cardboard with gold-stamped spine label and canvas with blind-stamped covers (rubbed and bumped). - Rare complete series with plate volume. - The 14-part series on William Hogarth's copperplate engravings was begun by Lichtenberg and continued after his death by various authors. The series was Lichtenberg's most extensive publication and continued to bring him fame even after his death. For the deliveries, Hogarth's copperplate engravings were reduced in size and re-engraved by the Göttingen engraver Ernst Ludwig Riepenhausen. - Foxing and browned edges. Overall in good condition with magnificent and contrasting copperplate engravings.
