Handbuch der Land-Bau-Kunst vorzüglich in Rücksicht auf die Konstruktion der Wohn- und Wirthschaftsgebäude für angehende Kameral-Baumeister und Oeconomen. 1. Bd. Mit gestoch. Titelvignette u. 26 gefalt. Kupfertafeln (hiervon 1 aquarelliert). Berlin, gedruckt bei George Decker, 1797. 2 Bll., 297 S. Gr.-8°. HLdr. d. Zt. mit goldgepr. RTitel, Marmordeckeln u. Lederecken (beschabt, berieben u. bestoßen).

Berlin 2048. - Humpert 1790. - Grüntz II, 273. - Einflussreiches Hauptwerk von David Gilly, einem der bedeutendsten Vertreter des preußischen Frühklassizismus und Wegbereiter der nachfolgenden Architektengeneration um Karl Friedrich Schinkel. - In seinem Handbuch der Land-Bau-Kunst werden von den Baumaterialien über das Mauerwerk bis hin zu den vielfältigen Dachkonstruktionen alle architektonischen und technischen Aspekte dieses Fachgebietes behandelt. Die Kupfer zeigen detailreich ausgeführte Konstruktionen, versch. Arbeitsinstrumente u.a. - Im Innendeckel mit Stempel sowie mont. Exlibris, papierbedingt nur minimal angebräunt, tls. mit hs. Annotationen in Bleistift u. etw. fingerfleckig, nur vereinzelt etw. stockfleckig bzw. fleckig, die Tafeln faltungsbedingt tls. etw. gewellt oder Knickspurig. Insgesamt sehr gut erhaltenes Exemplar mit durchweg feingliedrigen Tafeln in kräftigem Abdruck.

Architecture – 1st vol. With engraved title vignette a. 26 copper engraved plates (of which 1 coloured). Cont. half leather binding with gilt title on spine, marbled boards a. leather corners (scuffed, rubbed and bumped). - Influential work by David Gilly, one of the most important representatives of Prussian early classicism and a pioneer of the subsequent generation of architects around Karl Friedrich Schinkel. - His handbook of country architecture covers all architectural and technical aspects of this field, from building materials and masonry to diverse roof constructions. The copper plates depict detailed constructions, various working tools, etc. - Inner stamped a. with mounted bookplate, due to paper only minimally browned, some pp. in the margins with annotations in pencil and somewhat fingerstained, only occasional foxing, the plates somewhat wavy or creased due to folding. Overall a very well preserved copy with fine plates in strong impression throughout.
