Crak! 1963. Lithographie auf Velin. 47 x 68,5 cm (53,5 x 72,5 cm). - Ränder leicht gebräunt und minimal bestoßen. Punktuelle, kleine Flecken. Ansonsten sehr gut. Ausdrucksstarke Komposition, die Farbe frisch.

Online - Moderne und zeitgenössische Kunst – Publiziert anlässlich der Ausstellung "Crak" von Roy Lichtenstein bei der Leo Castelli Gallery, New York. Gedruckt von Total Color, NY. - Roy Lichtenstein, einer der bedeutendsten Vertreter der Pop-Art, präsentierte 1963 in der renommierten Leo Castelli Gallery in New York seine ikonische Ausstellung "Crak!". Diese Schau umfasste Werke, die seinen charakteristischen Stil - inspiriert von Comics, Werbegrafiken und industriellen Drucktechniken - eindrucksvoll zeigten. Besonders prägnant war das Gemälde Crak!, das mit seinen satten Farben, dicken schwarzen Umrisslinien und den berühmten Benday-Dots den Stil von Comic-Strips imitierte. Die Ausstellung festigte Lichtensteins Ruf als Pionier der Pop-Art und trug maßgeblich dazu bei, Comics als ernstzunehmende Kunstform in die Hochkultur zu überführen.

Expressive composition, the colour fresh. - Roy Lichtenstein, one of the most important representatives of Pop Art, presented his iconic exhibition "Crak!" at the renowned Leo Castelli Gallery in New York in 1963. This show included works that impressively demonstrated his characteristic style - inspired by comics, advertising graphics and industrial printing techniques. Particularly striking was the painting Crak! (1963), which imitated the style of comic strips with its rich colours, thick black outlines and the famous Benday dots. The exhibition cemented Lichtenstein's reputation as a pioneer of pop art and played a key role in establishing comics as an art form to be taken seriously in high culture.
