Klassische Moderne
Online - Modern and Contemporary Art – Colour lithograph on wove paper. Mounted behind passepartout. - Lower sheet edge creased to the rear and with occasional creases; sheet slightly browned due to age. Overall very good. Splendid impression with a decidedly nuanced and chalky effect, the colour fresh. - Sorlier 350. - One of 5000 copies. - Marc Chagall's lithograph poster Nice, Soleil, Fleurs was commissioned by the French Tourist Office in 1962 and printed by the Imprimerie Mourlot in Paris. It shows a floating figure with a bouquet of flowers over the Bay of Nice - a poetic homage to the Côte d'Azur. With bright colours, dreamlike motifs and a sun-drenched composition, the poster combines Chagall's typical visual language with Mediterranean joie de vivre and also served as the motif for the title page of the catalogue raisonné of Chagall's posters published by Charles Sorlier.
