Lot 382 Rainer Kriester. Testa cifrata. 1998. Bronze, …

Testa cifrata. 1998. Bronze, golden patiniert. 15,5 x 8 cm (42 x 8 cm).

Contemporary Art – Bronze, golden patina. Numbered to the foot and stamped "KRIESTER". With foundry stamp. - Very good overall. - Schmied 1551. - One of 40 copies. - "Testa cifrata" sculpture by Rainer Kriester, which impressively embodies his artistic exploration of the human head as a symbol of identity and existence. The title, translated as "encrypted head", refers to Kriester's central motif: the head as a carrier of expression and meaning. Kriester's formal language draws on a variety of sources: prehistoric artefacts, cult masks, ancient stelae, but also modern architecture and philosophy. He largely dispenses with narrative or emotional staging, instead focussing on the essentials - on mass, volume, surface and symbolism.
