Sammlung von 4 großformatigen OPhotographien mit Aufnahmen aus Myanmar, Indonesien und Sri Lanka. Um 1880. Albuminabzüge. Maße meist ca. 20,5 x 27 cm. Je fest auf Unterlage montiert (hiervon 2 Abzüge auf 1 Karton, recto u. verso). Auf dieser je hs. bezeichnet, 1 Aufnahme zusätzl. mit einbelichteter Bezeichung.

Photographie - Photographen – Gezeigt wird: Photo eines Elefanten mit einem Mahout auf dem Rücken des Tieres in einem Teakholzgarten in Rangun (Yangon), Burma (Myanmar), aufgenommen von Philip Adolphe Klier (Vgl. The British Library, 88120). - Ansicht der beiden Stratovulkane Gede, Salak und Pangrango auf Java. - Nuwara Eliya (Ceylon). - Der deutsche autodidaktische Photograph Philip Adolph Klier wanderte bereits in jungen Jahren während der britischen Kolonialzeit nach Birma aus. Dort schuf er zahlreiche Porträts und Photographien, deren Motive damals überwiegend Postkarten für den Verkauf an ausländische Besucher zierten. Seine Photographien sind heute Teil vieler öffentlicher Archive wie der British Library und gelten als wichtige Dokumente für die Geschichte der Photographie des heutigen Myanmar. - Tls. mit vereinzelt blassbraunen Fleckchen, die Montierung tls. etw. durchschlagend. Insgesamt wohlerhalten. - Beigegeben: Handkol. OPhotographie des Nikko Sandaiko Niomon Tempel. Vintage. Albuminabzug. 22 x 27,5 cm.

Photography – Southeast Asia - Collection of 4 large format orig.-photographs with depictions from Myanmar, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. Albumen prints. Each firmly mounted on backing (of which 2 photogr. on 1 mat, on recto and on verso). With handwritten inscription on the mat, 1 photograph additionally with exposed inscription in the lower left margin. - Depicted: Photo of an elephant with a mahout on the animal's back in a teak garden in Rangun (Yangon), Burma (Myanmar), taken by Philip Adolphe Klier (Cf. The British Library, 88120). - View of the two stratovolcanoes Gede, Salak and Pangrango on Java. - Nuwara Eliya (Ceylon). - The German autodidact photographer Philip Adolph Klier emigrated to Burma at a young age during the British colonial period. There he created numerous portraits and photographs, the motifs of which at that time mainly adorned postcards for selling to foreign visitors. His photographs are now part of many public archives such as the British Library and are considered important documents for the history of photography in present-day Myanmar. - Partly with small pale brown spots, the mounting partly showing through. Altogether in well preserved condition. - Added: Hand col. orig. photograph of the Nikko Sandaiko Niomon Temple. Vintage. Albumen print.
