Pop Art – Sculpture in plaster. On the verso with label, there signed, dated, titled and numbered. With additional edition note. In a fabric-covered, original display case with plexiglass window and magnetically mounted on a wooden base. - All in all very good. Splendid, vivid-like work. - One of 125 copies. - From the portfolio "Sleeping girl". - Pub. as edition by gallery Der Spiegel. - George Segal's "Sleeping Woman" shows the expression of a young woman sleeping peacefully. The artist concentrates on the face, neck and hands and chooses plaster as material, created as cast from bandages. Segal renounces the hair and positions his figure layed down and as a hollow sculpture. This form of representation creates exciting contrasts between negative-positive and front and back. Segal manages to create a touching moment of intimacy and peacefulness with reduced pictorial elements and impressively turns the inner life of the sleeping woman inside out.
