Smith S. 43. -Die umfangreiche zweite Gesamtausgabe der Werke von Nikolaus von Kues, sehr selten. - Die Ausgabe enthält neben den beiden grundlegenden Schriften De docta Ignoranatia (mit Apologie) und De Coniecturis und den umfangreichen Exercitationes auch zahlreiche weitere Abhandlungen, wie etwa De Beryllo Libellus und Cribratio Alchoran. Der dritte Teil enthält insbesondere seine mathematischen Schriften. - "In his De circuli quadratura (1450) Nicholas used a computational approach similar to that employed in his Transmutationes geometricae , it is uncertain what earlier authors may have influenced this work. The De circuli is remarkable for its discussion of the disputed intermediate value theorem, derived from Aristotle, and of the angle-of-contingence problem and the problem of exactly squaring a circle." Mod. half leather with marbled boards and spine label. - Extensive second complete edition of the author's works. Very rare. - In addition to the two fundamental writings De docta Ignoranatia (with Apology) and De Coniecturis and the extensive Exercitationes, the edition also contains numerous other treatises, such as De Beryllo Libellus and Cribratio Alchoran.
